Many of the problems Web Developers face today come from compatibility issues between various web browsing software. The level of support for web standards and recommendations can vary significantly between vendor implementations and version numbers. However, most recent versions of popular web browsing software provide an adequate level of support for Web Developers to limit the number of work-arounds they must use and align their designs more closely with these standards and recommendations.
When developing Webmasters' Library, every effort has been made to stick to the XHTML 1.0 recommendation set out by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Among other things this means completely avoiding the use of deprecated HTML tags for formatting and layout of webpage components. The Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) technology has been used in conjunction with XHTML to achieve this.
If you are not already doing so, I strongly recommend you make the
transition to CSS now. You can get more information by visiting the
W3C Website.
Webmasters' Library is utilizes an automated, database driven content management system to deliver content to users. This system provides a powerful platform for both the administration and deployment of content on Webmasters 'Library.
The technology behind this is Java Server Pages (JSP). JSP enables you to integrate the power of the Java programming language into your HTML documents for server-side processing prior to being sent to the visitor's browser. Because the Java code is being processed into standard HTML before being sent to the visitor, no additional software on the client-side is required.
Webmasters' Library is hosted by Lunarpages on a Linux platform. Lunarpages provides great support, a rich feature set for hosting accounts and is very reasonably priced.
