Is your website - Numero Uno on Yahoo?
By A.L Haines
It's pretty well commom knowledge that Yahoo! is the number one search engine on the Internet. Numero Uno if you will. Everyone uses Yahoo! at some point to find something, be it games, business applications, information, opportunities, music..... Guess you could say the whole world is right at your finger tips (That would not be an under statement)
The only problem with being numero uno, is that eventually they come to realize this and they want to take advantage of it. What happens is some knot-head in promotions decides it's time to change the Internet and make the masses (You & Me) do things in a restricted fashion. I Guess if your holding all the cards, you get to do as you wish.....
OK Sure, everyone's wanting that coveted "TOP SPOT" so the masses can easily find our sites, it eventually became far too much work. (Truth be known, i'd say it's totally impossible to grant such a wish)
BUT, it's not impossible to submit your information correctly & possibly luck out insofar that enough people came to look for your information at the right time, and you were there at the right time.
Let's see if we can increase those for you right now! I've compiled a list of the necessary instructions to ensure you get a much higher spot, maybe even be "Numero Uno" at Yahoo!
- Follow their instructions VERY carefully and read the information on this website link before submitting your info to Yahoo!
How to suggest a site: http://docs.yahoo.com/info/suggest/ - Get 10 classified ads ready for posting. Then click here http://classifieds.yahoo.com/
----
**** (For this example were going to select "Business opportunities") ****
---- - Select "Post Ad" and then select the category that is most appropriate to your website, where you think it should be listed and do not submit to any unrelated categories. ----> Guess What!? There are REAL PEOPLE who check submitted ads and sites, so if your lying, POOF!! there goes your chance at fame as "Numero Uno"
- SUB CATEGORY
Then you select your sub category, we chose "marketing, advertising" - AD TITLE
Submit either your business name or if it's a non-commercial site, your actual site TITLE. Open the page in question and double check it. Do not add anything extra after the TITLE. ( Remember the **POOF!** part at all times ) - CATEGORY
Your site has a topic so now you must choose the category (again) - DESCRIPTION
Provide as detailed a description as, but be brief at the same time. Don't repeat things used in the TITLE. Don't use marketing slogans, and talk in 3rd person context. 3rd person context means YOU talking about YOU as if YOU were another person. Sounds difficult but it's not hard with a little practice. - FAQ
The FAQ page tells your visitors about you. If you don't currently have an ABOUT PAGE or a FAQ's section telling who you are, your business, etc etc get one right away. Make sure you don't have any pages under construction, & that your site has all the links function correctly. Things like snail mail addresses, phone numbers and emails should also be easily accessible on your page and above all DON'T HIDE ANYTHING or make people look to hard. Keep it simple!! KISS IT! - PROFESSIONALISM
Make your site look as professional as possible and do not use large slow clipart images. These tend to hamper load time & will lower your overall page performance. If it loads too slowly your visitor will try elsewhere. If you can make your own web pages, thats great, but if not, don't hesitate to plunk a couple bucks on the table if necessary.
QUICK TIPS - Unique content not found anywhere else.
- Your site is 24/7
- In the English language
- Check your Meta-tags
- Check your pages spelling
Use these guidelines and your chances of getting the "Numero Uno" spot at Yahoo! is in the bag.
